Farewell, but not good-bye

It is with joy and sadness that we celebrated Leah Karmaker's recent departure from Just Housing. For me - Rachel, Leah's absence from the office brings pain but not sorrow. And pain is an ok thing, a tangible reminder of the presence and importance of something or someone.

Leah brings and will always conjure the opposite of sorrow. She is joy and purpose incarnate. She is fierce, compassionate, funny, and inquisitive. 

Leah brought talent, skills, empathy and creativity to all of us at Just Housing. She helped shape the company's mission, vision, graphic style and educational offerings. She dove into the details of building science, workforce training and resilient, repeatable design - with rigor. She knew how to pause, to rest and refuel (with soup, or art or ice cream). 

Most of all, Leah was open, honest and giving - with others as well as herself.

We wish Leah well as she journeys into her next adventures. We look forward to seeing where she goes and what she does. We know that she will enrich those around her wherever she lands, and hope that she finds people and places to further enrich her, as she deserves.

And she knows that the door is always open here for her. See you later, Leah.
