My Favorite Design Tool is the Sun

It's winter here in Northern Minnesota, the perfect time to talk about how wonderfully passive solar design can work in our cold climate. Every home can take advantage of the warmth and light of the sun, if designed and built according to passive solar design principles.

I co-created this video in 2021 for a youth education project called Solar Storytelling. The video features custom homes I designed in my former professional life, to illustrate principles of solar design. At Just Housing we use exactly the same principles to design ready-to-build, cost-effective solar-optimized housing for widespread use.
